“Every place has a spirit. And the spirit of a place derives as much from the way a place is thought about or used, as it does from its physical aspects. We should learn to understand and feel what gives a place its unique character and identity. Not least because that allows us to feel a part of the place we are in.””
(Dan Pearson. Spirit. 2009).
Our places are constantly evolving, sometimes so slowly that we aren’t aware of it and at other times so quickly that our sense of place is disrupted, causing disorientation and a need to realign with what we see and experience around us. These paintings are places where I have been often, where I live, where changes happen for so many reasons.
